Operation Sceptre – Tackling Knife Crime Together

Over the past week, our officers have been out and about taking part in a series of activities as part of Operation Sceptre — a national campaign focused on tackling knife crime through education, prevention, community engagement and enforcement.

We are extremely grateful to the family of Tom Ellis, and to former PC Steve Croshaw, for sharing their powerful and moving experiences.

Tom tragically lost his life after being stabbed in Nuneaton in June 2024. His sister Evie and dad Chris spoke about the devastating impact his death has had on their family.

Steve also spoke about the difficult experience of delivering the worst possible news to the family of a man who died following a stabbing.

By sharing their stories, Evie, Chris and Steve hope to encourage others to think about the serious consequences of carrying a knife, and to speak up if they are concerned about someone who may be carrying one.
